There are four different views in the 3D Module. Each view can show the object from a differnt direction and at different zoom levels. There are two different types of views, those that always follow a world coordinate axis and those that can be freely rotated.

The Shape view is special, since it is always synchronized with the main 2D image view in the Render Module. The Shape view is always located at the bottom right of the four views.

The other views can be changed to any viewing direction by clicking on the different buttons with grey cone icons at the top of each view.

3D views icons

The inclined cone icon on the right activates the Perspective view, which can be rotated using the camera transforms. The blue marble icon gives access to three view operations: Maximize, Restore and Synchronize.

Maximize resizes the view to the size such occupies the total view area, closing the other three views. This allows a more detailed view and more accurate manipulation of, e.g., vertex transforms. Restore returns the view to its original size.

The Synchronize operation allows you to transfer the current view to the Shape view. Note that the synchronization erases the previous settings of the Shape view.

The Shape view has the option to show the observed image that has previously been loaded in the 2D image of the Render Module (click on the blue marble icon). Note that the observed image in the 3D Shape view can not change transparency in the same way as in the Rendering Module, where you change the transparency dragging the mouse with the right mouse-button pressed. Remember that in the 3D Shape view dragging the mouse with the right button pressed will pan the view.

The cone icons are aligned with the world axes as follows:

front viewback view front and back views are aligned with the blue x-axis.

top viewbottom view top and bottom views are aligned with the red y-axis

left viewright view left and right views are aligned with the green z-axis.
